Lillian.   She was one of the loneliest people in the world until the King and his son chose her to be The Warden of the Mevali Hounds born in the world. She cares for them and helps lead them to all the children and young people in need.

Matthew. (Matt).   Lillian's friend who lives next door and owns a dog called Bugle the Beagle. Matt was grumpy and rude at first but he was lonely and unhappy too until he became friends with Lillian and her Mevali Hounds. The M Hounds, especially Princess Yasmin Aralia, love him very much.

Bugle the Beagle.   Fun-loving and very loud hunting dog but like Snoopy he is friends with rabbits and isn't much good at catching anything. Bugle is very kind too and lets the butterflies sleep on his ears when it's sunny outside. He is a tri-coloured Beagle - tan (that's like a ginger colour), black and cream and he keeps his fur very clean and shiny. He polishes his velvety earflaps every day with oil of gingernut.  Bugle likes to play a lot and often gets into trouble (usually stealing doughnuts) but is always forgiven. 

Farley.    A small boy who has very dangerous allergies and sometimes he can't breathe well. He is afraid to go to sleep at night but when he does he has really scary dreams. He cries in his sleep and wakes up Joanie, his mum.  Lillian is sent to him with her first Mevali Hound, Princess Yasmina Aralia (just called Yasmin most of the time). He learns all about the M Hounds and the Gemma Garden - that safe and lovely place to go at night. It can be found somewhere between waking and sleeping. 

Pogs.    Farley's soft toy penguin. Full name: Poggin

The World M Hounds.   These were born in the low world (where you and I live) and are in the care of Lillian, the Warder but they belong to Queen Shai-Dora of Nomoni. She always looks out for them and if they are in trouble she asks the king and his son to help get them to safety in the Gemma Garden. They came into the world over many years but if you sit on a Hope Cloud you can see and hear* them all at once. Some of them have 2 names - their royal name and their pet name. Lillian was told that you young ones would not understand about that but I think you will! On the Mevali page are some of the ones you will meet if you close your eyes and imagine them. Don't forget to look for a Hope Cloud and you might hear them too...........
